Yosemite Lakes Park and the central Sierra Foothills have much to offer the person seeking a quality lifestyle. With wide open spaces and clean air, it is a private community located just over 20 miles north of the City of Fresno on Highway 41 and about 30 miles south of Yosemite national Park. Coarsegold, a small town with Western charm, is 7 miles north and about 15 miles to the north is the Village of Oakhurst.
The community consists of 2,257 parcels ranging fin size from a minimum of 1 acre to 16 acres with 1,400 acres of permanent wilderness that has been set aside for hiking, horseback riding and outdoor activities. Other recreational amenities include a nine hole executive golf course(two sets of tees provide 18 holes), a pro shop, junior Olympic swimming pool, spa, tennis courts, equestrian center, clubhouse with lounge and restaurant, and five small lakes. There is also a five acre community park with recreation center, baseball field, basketball courts, and playground.
The elevation of Yosemite Lakes Park varies from about 1,000 to 2,700 feet. The area is covered with oak, pine, Manzanita, and other native plants which provide homes to an abundance of wild life. Blue Heron Lake, the largest of the five lakes, has produced numerous bass and other game fish. It is also a swimming lake with a picnic area and volleyball court. Blackhawk Lake, located on the southern boarder of the development is also available for the enjoyment of residents.
At this time there are just over 1,800 homes in Yosemite Lakes Park. None of the 2,257 residential lots can be subdivided nor can any of the recreational areas be developed. There is water, sewer, telephone, and cable television to each of the parcels.
Although there are no hard statistics on the population, it is estimated that about 80% are working families and 20% are retired.
The local schools are excellent. The elementary schools are close by the Coarsegold and Yosemite High School is located in Oakhurst. Bus transportation is provided to all locations. There is also a pre-school located in the park.
A volunteer fire department with two engines and a medical first responder unit is located in the park. There is also a sub-station of the Madera County Sheriff Department. The community maintains its own staff security officers.
Commercial areas include a full service market, restaurants, pizza take out and delivery, beauty salons, dentist, hardware/variety store, viseo store, three real estate offices, mini mart with gas station, as well as other retail and service providers.
An inter-denominational community church is within Yosemite Lakes Park and many other churches are located in the surrounding area.
Medical facilities provided by Community Hospital of Fresno, St. Agnes Hospital, and Kaiser Hospital are located in both Oakhurst and Fresno.
